Predictable Stupidities

I was afraid, like everyone else I also have to maintain a life on facebook. Its a nice service, no doubt the API thing they implemented is being copied by everyone and anyone who is in the social scene. But I just have one big problem, I just can’t handle it! I don’t like the interface and the constant nagging emails about someone has done this or that and somehow you are responsible for it. I’m a LinkedIn guy, I value connections and I go for business. For social stuff, orkut was just ok, facebook is too much.

Enters Google’s answer to this social madness not only felt by me but many others, Open Social.  Quoting from Google Open Social Website:

“OpenSocial provides a common set of APIs for social applications across multiple websites. With standard JavaScript and HTML, developers can create apps that access a social network’s friends and update feeds.”

We recently tried the flyer’s advertisement on Facebook for shophive, very impressive ROI. But the dilemma for us is to manage another container and a separate media strategy apart from our standard Google Adwords.

In time the new platform will be tested and we can hope some fumbles like one faced by Plaxo. The first demo app by Plaxo was hacked in 45 minutes, wow!
