iSlate, iTablet – whats in the name?

iTablet or iSlate?

The web is all deja vu again with the rumored release of the Apple latest gizmo, just like 3 years ago with the iphone launch. Now and then, a new insight comes in about the size; 7″, 9″, 10″ or about 11″ and then there is are long debates on benefits of having +/- an inch on the whole tablet experience. Then we have this debate about the OS, is going to be a hybrid of Mac OS X or will adopt similarities from the iphone OS? Who knows another OS X variant is on its way.

But the biggest bone of contention among mac or tablet enthusiasts seems to be the name. iSlate or iTablet? There were even speculation of iGadget. People if we can have a tablet by the name of JooJoo, we can certainly live with either of the above choices.

The most important thing is What would you like the tablet to do for you? Here is what I would like to see in this new gizmo:

  • Multiple inputs: Multi-touch and if possible pen
  • E-reader: And I presume an Itunes powered accompanying Amazon Kindle killer solution
  • Full Web Browsing experience, desktop/notebook/netbook replacement
  • Based on the OS, ability to run majority of Mac OS X softwares
  • Reasonable connectivity options
  • Generous battery

But at the end, I’ll let Apple throw it on us. We will leave this one on Heir Jobs to inspire us and define once and for all How to make a tablet.
